Susan’s formal art education began in high school, went through college and ended at IV Tech in Kokomo IN in interior design. From there she opened an interior design business called Lasting Impressions, where she worked as a designer with an in-house workroom, and trained her staff to sew for herself and local designers. She loved competing with area Designers on Show Homes to raise money for charities. She has been a multi-media artist for several years but could not understand paint theory until after a stroke in 2010. With healing, she felt led to try painting once again and to her amazement it all made sense to her. Since then, she has dabbled in Realism, Mixed Media, and Fluid Art, eventually settling into her own unique style that combined the different types to make a one-of-a-kind work. She applies her style to clocks and furniture as well as wall art. Susan’s work was shown at Wall Candy (a former framing store in Columbia) in 2012-2014, and in the Arts in the Park venue in 2013. She won two of nine places in a contest to design art banners for the city of Columbia that were displayed on South Main and Riverwalk Drive. She also has shown in the Franklin Art Crawl 2015, Columbia’s Art Crawl in March 2018 and First Fridays in Columbia 2018. Susan has also participated in several live demonstrations including the Columbia Arts Alive Event, where artists paint live on Fridays during month of February at First Farmers and Merchant Bank. She has donated her time and work to Whitthorne Middle School in renovating and beautifying the school over the summer 2018. Most recently she has begun teaching classes in Fluid Art.
