Overview
Stephen D. Barnett was born in Columbia, Tennessee in 1969. He is a graduate of Tennessee State University, Troy State University and earned an officers commission in the Navy from the Aviation Officer Candidate School. As Commander of the Patrol Squadron VP-47, Barnett led his squadron on deployment to Japan and Iraq, where they would carry out over 250 missions during Operation Iraqi Freedom. Barnett would then serve in various positions working with Naval Operations, later becoming the commander of the Navy Region Northwest and Navy Region Hawaii. In February 2023, Barnett was promoted to rear admiral, and in December 2023 was confirmed by the United States Senate. Rear Admiral Barnett continues to proudly serve his country today.
