Overview
I spent much of my artistic life as a photographer, with an emphasis on the patterns and textures in nature, and a love of working in the darkroom. I also enjoy creating inked and carved patterns on natural gourds. When I retired from Nashville to the woods near Hampshire, TN, I began working with concrete and mosaic. The use of stains and colorants, as well as stones from my rockhounding expeditions and found object mosaic materials fits naturally into my love of pattern and texture. I also love working with my hands to construct the pieces (something I missed with the transition from chemical to digital photography) and the challenge of creating in 3D. I still use my camera, although now it is primarily to capture inspiring images for other projects.
