  • Overview

Aileen-Marie Scott has always been blessed to live an artistic life. Not being able to sit still, Aileen became an actress and worked in the field for most of her life. When she directed a play about Mark Rothko she was reminded of her love of painting and grabbed some canvases, brushes, and paints and never looked back. Aileen is an abstract artist, and paints from her emotions and her life. “In theater, every so often you have moments when things become so real the world goes away and it is just you and your craft. With painting it happens most every time. That peace. That centeredness. That giving over to craft. It’s like a prayer. And that’s what it’s all about.” From the Artist I will paraphrase Tennessee Williams, Glass Menagerie to describe my pieces. These are memory pieces. Being memory pieces, they are dimly painted. They are fragments of memory. It is not realistic. I am the painter of the pieces and a character in them.
