A Real Hometown Holiday Experience Featuring Special Guest RaeLynn

Columbia, Tn (Nov 20, 2019) – It’s Christmas in Columbia and everyone is invited to experience a real hometown holiday experience at the ‘Night of Light’, the Columbia Christmas Parade, ‘Fa La La Fridays’, not to mention a variety of holiday events taking place in and around Columbia, Tennessee.

‘Night of Light’ is the much-anticipated tree-lighting ceremony of the holiday season that takes place at 5:30PM, Friday November 30, 2018 featuring special guest RaeLynn. Columbia’s new, majestic, 40-foot Christmas tree commands center stage at the Courthouse Square. “This is a magical night of holiday music and entertainment sure to usher in the joy and splendor of the holidays,” exclaimed Kristi Martin, Executive Director for Columbia Main Street and organizer for the ‘Night of Light’ and the Christmas Parade. “What makes Christmas in Columbia so special is that this collection of events brings the whole community together for a time of holiday merriment. It’s a small-town celebration with an uptown feel!”

RaeLynn, the featured artist for ‘Night of Light’ is sure to light up the crowd herself. Columbia is excited to welcome Warner Bros. Records/Warner Music Nashville recording artist and 2018 ACM New Female Vocalist Nominee, RaeLynn, thanks to our friends at The Mulehouse. With her current single “Tailgate” at country radio now, RaeLynn’s critically acclaimed debut album WildHorse arrived at No. 1 on Billboard's Country Albums Chart and Top 10 on Billboard's All-Genre Albums Sales Chart upon release. RaeLynn will sing a few of her Christmas favorites and chart toppers in the glow of Columbia’s magnificent new Christmas tree.

Special guest emcee for the ‘Night of Light’ extravaganza is nationally syndicated country radio personality Blair Garner. Garner has been captivating the airwaves for 30 years with his distinct voice mixed with his conversational-styled interviews, making him one of the most recognizable radio personalities in North America. In 2013, he was inducted to the National Radio Hall of Fame and in 2016, to the Country Radio Hall of Fame. Garner is also the founder of The Mulehouse, an entertainment venue slated to open in early 2019, located in Columbia.

"RaeLynn is one of my favorite people on the planet!” says Garner.  “She is the perfect person to kick-off the holidays and give Columbia a small taste of what’s coming in 2019 with our new music venue, The Mulehouse.  Her energy is infectious, and I truly believe she is poised to be one of Country Music’s next big superstars.”

Local businessman Rick Alexander and his Breakfast Rotary Club came up with the idea to adorn the Courthouse Square with the new Christmas tree. Alexander managed to recruit additional sponsors for the $25,000 artificial tree including Columbia Noon Rotary Club, Columbia Kiwanis Club, Asgard Brewery, Muletown Coffee, “American Picker” Mike Wolfe, The Muletowner, Puckett’s of Columbia, City of Columbia, Maury Alliance and Maury County Government.  ‘Night of Light’ includes local choirs, a guest appearance by Santa Claus, just maybe a sprinkling of snow, food trucks, and a remote broadcast by NashFM to round out the festivities.

The 32nd annual Christmas Parade, hosted by Columbia Main Street, will take place at 7:00PM on Monday, December 3, 2018. This nighttime parade will delight the crowds as marching bands, school groups, boy scouts and girl scouts, church groups, classic automobiles and motorcycles spread holiday cheer as they promenade along West 7th Street to the Courthouse Square.  Lighted floats accompanied by music will entertain spectators of all ages!

Designed to add a few extra hours of holiday shopping, ‘Fa La La Fridays’ will follow the format of the successful ‘First Fridays’ and will take place from 5:00PM to 8:00PM on December 7th, 14th, and 21st. Emblazoned by the 40-foot lighted Christmas tree and festive window displays, the downtown district will be the perfect setting for holiday visitors. Make plans to join in the Fa La La fun and shopping specials each week!

‘Get Your Glow On’ is Saturday fun on the Courthouse Square in downtown Columbia that takes place at 3:00PM on December 8th, 15th and 22nd. With the 40-foot, star-topped tree as a backdrop, there’s a special appearance by Santa, games, holiday music and shopping that will bring a warm glow to your soul and fill the downtown district with good cheer.

Title sponsors that help make these events possible are CPWS, Maury Regional Health, Amped Lighting & Sound, Visit Columbia, The Mulehouse, and NashFM. These events are free to attend.
