In addition to the beautiful fall scenery that covers the town, Columbia is home to many unique and season inspired events that you don’t want to miss.

1. Mid-South Live Steamers Fall Meet

Twice per year, the Mid-South Live Steamers offer free mini train rides to the public. These events are a community favorite and something for the whole family to enjoy. You can experience this unique opportunity at their Fall Meet that will take place Thursday, September 25th through Saturday, September 27th from 10:00 am until 3:30 pm each day. 

2. Fall Fest

Join Columbia Main Street for their 3rd Annual Fall Fest in downtown Columbia on Saturday, October 11th from 3:00-8:00pm! Attendees can expect to savor a variety of chili recipes from the Kiwanis Chili Cook-Off (ticketed), while also enjoying the vibrant atmosphere of craft vendors, food trucks, and activities for all ages. Hear live music performed by local artists on the Fall Fest stage, visit the exciting fun zone, and check out the pumpkin decorating station. Fall Fest is the perfect way to immerse yourself into the cozy and colorful fall season.

3. Big Bleu Pickin’ Party

The Big Bleu Pickin’ Party is a Columbia staple fall event and is loved by many. This free event is hosted by Bleu 32, a unique and local business that houses a variety of goods from various merchants, and it brings in the crowds. The Pickin’ Party will include live music, delicious food options and tons of exciting finds from different vendors. Don’t miss out on the fun on Saturday, October 18th from 8:00am-4:00pm at the corner of Woodland and East 7th Street.

4. Ghosts of Greenwood

Join the James K. Polk Memorial Association and Watershed Public Theatre for a not-so-spooky tour of Greenwood Cemetery, Columbia's oldest public burial ground. Volunteers and professional actors help bring Columbians of the past back to life at their graves on just one night - Friday, October 24th. Pathways will be lit, but participants are encourages to bring flashlights. Click here for tickets. 

5. Haunting in the District

Haunting in the District is back to bring spooky fun to downtown Columbia! Families are invited to head to the downtown district on Halloween night from 6:00-8:00 pm for an evening of safe, family-friendly trick-or-treating. Kids 12 and under can fill their bags with candy from participating businesses all around the square. Bring your little ghosts, goblins, superheroes, and princesses out for a nigh of sweet treats, festive fun, and downtown magic! 

6. Hidden Bee Farm's Pumpkin Patch 

Searching for the perfect pumpkin for carving or painting? Look no further than Hidden Bee Farm's Pumpkin Patch. In addition to pumpkin scouting, attendees will enjoy interacting with rescue farm animals, taking a scenic hay ride, tasting delicious food, wandering through the maze escape room, and discovering unique gifts.
