Downtown Columbia

  • 1 Public Square
  • Columbia, TN 38401
  • Overview

Historic downtown Columbia is the classic town square with an iconic courthouse, built in 1906, surrounded by vibrant shops, restaurants, a tap room brewery, wine bar, and cool places to hang out with friends. But wait, there’s more…adjacent to this beautiful downtown is the emerging Columbia Arts District and the ancestral home of U.S. President James K. Polk. And the scenic Duck River (the most ecologically diverse river in North America). All this in the growing city of Columbia, population 41,690 (2020 Census). An afternoon in downtown Columbia promises good eats, great finds, live music, and relaxing options, equally noteworthy for both the ladies and the guys. Coffee shops, vintage records, book store, tap room, brewery, barber shops, spa, boutiques, antiques and vintage finds make it worth the trip. If you’re here on the first weekend of the month, be sure to check out First Fridays for live music on the square, inside and outside the shops. And don't miss the annual tradition we celebrate called Mule Day, happening every April.
