Family of Influence Walking Tour

  • Overview

The President James K. Polk Home and Museum presents a walking tour of downtown Columbia, TN that features the history of the town told through stories of the Polk family.

Before it was Mule Town USA, what was Columbia like? As some of the earliest residents, the Polk family helped shape the town. Learn about Samuel Polk's first fight on the city square, William Polk's duel, and the tress that spelled our “Andrew Jackson.”

This interactive tour will begin and end at the President James K. Polk Home & Museum and take participants around the downtown area. The tour will last approximately 1.5 hours and does not include a tour of the Polk Home itself. Visitors should dress weather-appropriate and wear comfortable shoes.

Participants should purchase their tickets ahead of time through Eventbrite. The tour will meet out front of the Polk Home at 9 am.
