    Appalachian Mountain Dulcimer for Beginners
    Saturday’s 9:30-10:30am
6 Week Session: January 18 through February 22

Want a new, unique skill? Something that will entertain your friends around the campfire or at holiday gatherings? In this class, you'll learn the basics of playing Appalachian Mountain Dulcimer. The dulcimer is a portable instrument that is great for beginner and experienced musicians alike. You don't need to have a musical background - just an interest in learning an instrument that is enjoyable to sing to and simple to learn!

Your artisan instructor, Melissa Buck, has extensive experience in not only playing, but also teaching others in the art of dulcimer and bluegrass music. You will learn how to to care for your instrument including tuning and string set up. We will work through the Mel Bay Teach Yourself Dulcimer book as a group.

This is a 6 week session that builds upon itself every week. It is open to adults and to youth who are middle school age and older.

The course fee is for lessons only; students will need to bring their own instrument. If you do not have one yet, we've given you several sources on our website at https://www.columbiaartsbuilding.com/classes/dulcimer-fall 2018 .

Join this class to learn a truly beautiful skill that you can take with you anywhere you go!
