The President James K. Polk Home & Museum is welcoming the season with "A Right Happy Christmas: Holidays in the Polks’ Era,” a special exhibition in Presidential Hall. This show features objects from the Polk Home’s collection, including the Polk family Bible and china from the White House, to interpret how the Polks and other Americans in the 1800s observed the holidays. Visitors will explore the nineteenth-century roots of many familiar Christmas traditions and learn how President and Mrs. Polk celebrated (or didn’t celebrate) the holidays in the White House and beyond. Accompanying the exhibition will be a special Christmas house tour and festive family activities throughout December. A Right Happy Christmas: Holidays in the Polks’ Era runs from November 16, 2018 through January 6, 2019. The President James K. Polk Home & Museum is open Monday through Saturday, 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. and Sundays 1-5 p.m. See website for admission information and follow on Facebook and Instagram for more on holiday special events.
